Troops 9626 and 7626 are Scouts BSA organizations, sponsored by the Catholic Community of St. Odilia in association with Pack and Crew 9626 as a youth ministry. We are part of the Northwest District in the Northern Star Scouting council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). The BSA is part of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, founded on the skills and ideals put forth by Lord Baden Powell in 1908. Troops 626 strives to be a scout-led Troop, meaning that wherever and whenever possible, youth scouts organize, plan and conduct their activities under youth leadership, but with the guidance of adults. The Troop’s objectives are to offer regular, wide-ranging, fun and engaging outdoor activities while building the leadership ability, self-respect, self-reliance, self-discipline and self-confidence and scouting skills of each youth member all while working to live by the Scout Oath, Law, Slogan and Motto.
Scouts are introduced to a great number of new experiences and given many opportunities to gain knowledge in a variety of subjects. These experiences are designed for Scouts to enjoy themselves as they interact with youth members, adult leaders, other involved parents and our community. In the process, they gain social skills as well as leadership skills. They learn teamwork while reinforcing the values learned at home and in school. We strive to help our Scouts mature into happy, productive, responsible adults.
Meeting and Activity information:
Troop 9626 strives to go camping 11 months out of the year, usually 1 weekend each month, with a 1 week summer camp the first full week of August. We work in conjunction with the Venture Crew to offer longer high adventure experiences for teen-aged youth once they have absorbed the scouting skills that will ensure success on the more challenging adventures.
Monday night is Scouting night with our Troop. With the exception of holidays, there is usually a Troop meeting happening on a Monday night. 1 Monday night each month is attended by Youth Leaders for the Patrol Leader Council (PLC) planning meeting. That night also has an Adult Planning (Committee) meeting as well. The planning meetings are usually on the Monday following the Troop’s weekend camping activity.
Our awards Court of Honor ceremonies are held 3 times each year in the Spring, end of Summer and in December where we accept Webelo Scouts crossing over into the Troop.
